My Story
I am originally from the anthracite coal region of North Eastern Pennsylvania. I have been based of the Portland, Oregon metro area for the past dozen or so years. I have volunteered with KBOO Community Radio and Open Signal TV. My interests spread from self-published mini comics to stop-motion animation. I am interested in helping people tell their story in a creative unique way to roll ideas in motion and as tangible experiences.
I have long had an interest in the arts, storytelling, audio video production and broadcasting to name a few things. I originally came to Portland as I was attracted to the self-published mini comics and the zine community. I found myself pursuing community radio as that had been on the radar for a few years before arriving in Portland. I then spent about 10 doing various jobs with KBOO Community Radio and later found myself at events within the city, including The Clinton Street Theater, Open Signal Community Media to name a few.
I decided to pursue an education at Portland Community College in the multimedia program. As that was crossing over from hosting a live music late night radio show to producing music videos and live events. A big takeaway from doing radio is the ability to interview.
My time with KBOO Community Radio began in the news department and later in Engineering and Programming. I was on the remote broadcast crew during the summer festival season and often was involved with live events and fundraisers. I taught many of the production workshops and recorded lectures at various venues around Portland.
I started Sound And Vision PNW as a way to legitimately work with various types of performing artists, business owners and event promoters to have a video showcase. I am also interested in documentaries, narrative filmmaking and animation.
